Former NJ CEO, Pilot Sentenced to Federal Prison for Engaging in Explicit Relationship with Minor

A federal judge sentenced a former CEO of a New Jersey investment firm to seven years in federal prison for engaging in explicit activity with a teenaged girl in his private

Officials say Stephen Bradley Mell, 53, of Far Hills, was sentenced after he pleaded guilty to one count of interstate travel to engage in illicit conduct and one count of receipt of explicit images of minors while on his airplane after he set it on autopilot and received images of the girl according to U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito.

Officials say Mel was the CEO of W.H. Mell Associates, a Summit-based investing firm that specialized in municipal bond markets.

From July to December 2017 Mel reportedly traveled to engage in viewing explicit images of the minors.

Police arrested Mel in June 2018 after authorities discovered that he was engaging in a sexual relationship with the girl in Readington and Bedminster townships, authorities said.
