Former Madison Police Officer Sentenced for Possession of Explicit Images of Minors

Madison

Morris County Prosecutor Fredric M. Knapp announces that the Honorable Thomas J. Critchley sentenced Chad Rybka, 33, of Bernards Township, to two years probation, $905 in mandatory fines and penalties and continued psychological treatment.

On May 26, Rybka pled guilty to one count of endangering the welfare of a child – possession of explicit images of minors, a crime of the third degree.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Rybka resigned employment as a Madison Borough Police Officer and is also required to forfeit future public employment in the State of New Jersey.

Supervising Assistant Prosecutor Meg Rodriguez represented the State during the proceedings. SAP Rodriguez read a letter submitted by the 17-year-old victim’s family condemning Rybka’s actions yet expressing concern for the “good officers of the Madison Police Department” who would have to “rebuild the damage [Rybka] brought to their department.”
