Former Linden High School Football Player Found Not Guilty of Attempted Murder

A former Linden High School football player was found not guilty

of attempted murder.

Antoine Morgan, 21, was acquitted of all charges in connection with the Dec. 28, 2013 shooting.

According to court documents, on the day of the shooting the victim was walking to his truck when a person approached from behind and ultimately fired multiple times while chasing the victim.

The victim was struck twice in the torso before getting into a friend's vehicle to seek medical assistance.

Police were notified and ambulance transported the injured victim to an area hospital. The victim' friend during questioning told Roselle police he identified the shooter, as "Fritz." He eventually showed officers an Instagram photo of the alleged gunman. Morgan was identified and taken into custody.

However, last week Morgan, was acquitted on charges of attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes, and fourth-degree aggravated assault.
