Former Linden Cop, Pedro Abad, Gets Maximum Sentence in Fatal Wrong-Way Crash

Former Linden cop, Pedro Abad received the maximum sentenced for the drunken, wrong-way crash on the West Shore Expressway that killed two people.

State Supreme Court Justice Mario Mattei sentenced Abad to the maximum sentence of 8 1/3 to 25 years.

Abad last month was indicted on all nine charges against him - four counts of aggravated vehicular homicide, two counts of aggravated vehicular assault, and single counts of second-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Police Chief Jonathan Parham issued the following statement regarding today's sentencing of Pedro Abad:

"Abad had his day in court, and whether he serves a year, or a hundred years; lives were forever altered on that day. We continue to pray for Frank and Joe, their families, and all those affected by this tragedy."
