There were no injuries immediately reported in a shooting incident that occurred in a Newark Central Ward neighborhood on Saturday afternoon.
According to police, a ShotSpotter activation alerted police of gunfire that rang out in the vicinity of Springfield Avene and Mercer Street around 4:30 p.m.
Police say officers arrived and found multiple shell casings and a car struck by bullets at that location.
According to police, no one inside the car was injured and the suspects fled the scene and remain at-large.
The incident is under investigation.
