Newark firefighters battled a fast-moving second-alarm fire Friday evening at a multi-family home on Summer Avenue.

The fire broke out shortly after 8 p.m. at 801 Summer Avenue, where heavy flames were reported on the first and second floors of a 2½-story wood-frame residence.
Fire officials also reported exposure concerns as flames threatened nearby structures, prompting the transmission of a second alarm.
Firefighters quickly mounted an aggressive attack, bringing the bulk of the fire under control by approximately 8:19 p.m.
Crews remained on scene conducting extensive overhaul operations to extinguish hidden hot spots and prevent the fire from rekindling.
There were no immediate reports of injuries, and the cause of the fire has not yet been released.
The incident remains under investigation.
