Firefighters Battle Multi-Alarm Vacant House Fire in West Long Branch

Monmouth County firefighters battled a multi-alarm blaze that ignited inside a house in West Long branch early Tuesday morning.

According to preliminary reports, heavy fire tore through a two and a half story wood-framed house located in the 300 block of Norwood Avenue just before 1:05 a.m.

Crews arrived at the scene and found the home fully engulfed in flames prompting them to active ad second then third alarm as fire began to extend to neighboring homes.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control at around 3:20 a.m with a search of the structure for trapped and injured occupants coming back negative.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
