Newark Firefighters battled a fast-moving fire that tore through a Chinese restaurant in Newark’s Ironbound section early Saturday morning.

Crews were called to The Golden Chinese Take Out located in the 50’s block Ferry Street at Union Street just before 5 a.m. where they arrived to find fire engulfing the lower level of a three-story mixed occupancy building.
Crews were able to get multiple occupants from inside the brick structure before they went to work battling flames.
Official on the scene confirmed that there were no severe injuries reported.
Crews were able to bring the blaze under control in about 30 minutes with the cause under investigation.
The American Red Cross assisted about a dozen residents.
