Fire Damages Jersey City Laundromat, Apartments; Six People, Including Firefighters Injured

Firefighters rushed to the scene of a fire early Wednesday morning that broke out in a Jersey City commercial building with residential apartments on the upper floors, causing damage and possible injuries.

According to preliminary information from the scene, the fire was reported around 3:30 a.m. at 296 Summit Street. 

Crews were dispatched after receiving reports of a fire inside a laundromat on the first floor of the three-story structure.

Upon arrival, firefighters found active flames on the lower level and quickly worked to bring the blaze under control. 

Although the fire was contained within a short amount of time, two adults, two children, and two firefighters sustained injuries. 

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
