Fight Over Parking Spot Ends in Bloomfield Stabbing

Bloomfield Police took a Newark resident into custody after a stabbing incident resulted from a verbal altercation in the Township. 

According to a statement released by Bloomfield Police officials, officers responded to the area of Berkeley Avenue on a report of a fight involving a knife.

Officials said upon officers’ arrival, units observed a knife on the ground and an individual with a puncture wound under his arm.

Police say, according to witnesses they interviewed, an altercation began over a parking spot and the suspect, identified as Mr. John Calandrillo, 42, pulled out a knife and stabbed the victim.

According to Bloomfield Police, Calandrillo was still on the scene when officers arrived and were placed under arrest.

He was transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to be processed accordingly.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
