A female victim was transported by private vehicle to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center after being shot in the city's South Ward late last night.
Reports of shots fired that rang out in the 300 block of Leslie Street shortly before midnight sent multiple police units to the scene where they found evidence of a shooting but were immediately advised that a "young" female victim had been transported to the hospital by private vehicle.
The condition of the victim has not been released at this time.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
There were no arrest reported.
