Police setup a crime scene on Jeliff Ave. where they searched for evidence in regards to a shooting that happened early this morning in Newark.
The investigation was launched after a woman was transported to University Hospital by private vehicle at around 3:45 p.m. suffering a gunshot wound to the back.
The woman reported to authorities that she was shot in the South Ward neighborhood shortly before arriving to the hospital.
One other person was reportedly transported to the hospital by private vehicle (around the same time) suffering injury from gunfire. The gender and extent of injury for this victim is unknown at this time. It is not clear if the shootings are connected.
There were no reports of fatalities.
