Linden Basketball Player Viciously Attacked During Brawl at Plainfield Basketball Game

Linden Plainfield

The parent of a Linden high school student is asking for the public’s help in locating video footage of a brawl that reportedly occurred during Linden vs. Plainfield High School boys varsity basketball game on Tuesday.

According to Kirk Bibby, his son, Shakim Bibby, 17, was punched and knocked to the ground following a fight at the game. Bibby claims his son did not see who punched him and is hoping someone captured the incident on video so that he may file charges against the person(s) responsible.

The family said the 17-year-old high school senior was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway after fracturing a bone on the right side of his face, suffering a concussion, and ultimately getting six stitches above his left eye.

Linden police said the incident is currently under investigation by Plainfield police.

No additional information was immediately released by either the school district other than them confirming that both high schools are investigating the matter and are reviewing school security footage.

Anyone with information or footage of the incident is asked to contact police.
