Authorities are investigating a shooting that left a man fatally injured in Newark on Monday.
Police set up a crime scene in the area of Clinton Avenue and 19th Street where they searched for evidence to support their investigation into whether a male who entered University Hospital suffering a gunshot injury that ultimately cost him his life was injured at that location.
According to reports, the victim was dropped off in a taxi cab to the hospital at around noon where he was immediately treated for the injury but died several hours later.
Authorities have not released the identification of the victim and the motive behind the shooting.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
