Middlesex County officials are reporting fatal injuries for the victim of a car crash that occurred on Sunday night in Edison.
It happened before 11 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-287 near mile marker 2.6 where emergency responders rushed to the scene after they received reports of a crash with injuries.
Rescue crews arrived at the scene and found that a car and a truck collided at that location.
The severely injured victim inside the car was pronounced dead shortly after the crash according to preliminary reports.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
There were no other serious injuries reported.
