Fatal Garden State Parkway Crash That Killed NY Man Under Investigation

Authorities released the identity of the 43-year-old New York man who died Sunday after he fell from a moving car, police said.

Police responded to the northbound side of the Parkway near milepost 102.7 in Tinton Falls shortly before 4 p.m. to investigate.

Upon preliminary investigations, police discovered that Jason Gonzalez, 43, of Freeport, N.Y., was stopped on the side of the road where his car reportedly broke down.

According to New Jersey State Police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Flynn, Gonzalez flagged down the driver of a Lincoln Continental who stopped to help him.

Gonzalez hopped into the vehicle, however as the woman accelerate, Gonzalez fell from the vehicle onto the roadway.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

The incident remains under investigation.

Therefore no further details of how Gonzalez fell from the vehicle has been release.

According to authorities, no charges are pending against the driver as of today.
