NJ State Police officials are investigating the cause of a crash that occurred overnight in Kearny.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of a car crash with possible injuries on the ramp to I-280 near the Walmart at approximately 11 p.m.
State Troopers arrived to find a severely damaged vehicle with an unconscious an unresponsive person heavily trapped inside.
Kearny Firefighters and rescue crews were able to extricate the unidentified person form the vehicle then pronounce them dead at the scene according to reports.
Police temporarily closed off the ramp for the crash investigation.
There were no other injuries reported.
