Essex Crime Stoppers Program Offers $10,000 Reward Regarding Fatal Newark Hit-And-Run of Child

Essex County Sheriff Armando B. Fontoura announced today that the Essex County Sheriff’s Crime Stoppers Program is offering up to a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person responsible for a fatal hit- and-run crash. 

It happened on January 31st where a five-year-old child was killed and her father and two-year-old sister were hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Crash According to Sheriff  Fontoura, on Tuesday, at 6:45 pm, the father was carrying the 2-year-old child in his arms and holding his 5-year-old’s hand as they crossed the street along Sixth Avenue West and North 9th Street in Newark.  

 Sheriff Fontoura said a car drove down Sixth Avenue, hit all of them, and kept on going.
