The arrest was the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, under the direction of Deputy Chief Jeff Angermeyer, and the Englewood Police Department, under the direction of Chief Thomas Greeley, BCPO officials stated.

According to Bergen County officials, on Thursday, December 4, the Englewood Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an alleged Explicit Contact of a juvenile that had occurred in Englewood.

BCPO officials say that an investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Englewood Police Department revealed that Mauro Alves-Ribeiro had Explicit Contact and endangered the juvenile in an Englewood residence on more than one occasion in the past.

Further investigation revealed that Alves-Ribeiro attempted to hinder the investigation by instructing the juvenile to delete text message conversations between him and the victim that were explicit in nature, Bergen County officials stated.

As a result of the investigation, Bergen County authorities said on December 5 that Mauro Alves-Ribeiro was charged with two counts of second-degree Explicit Contact, four counts of third-degree Explicit Contact, third-degree endangering the welfare of a minor, third-degree hindering an investigation, and fourth-degree criminal explicit contact.
