Police in Elizabeth are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital overnight in the city.
According to initial reports, EMS transported a male victim to a Newark hospital after finding him struck by gunfire near the Jersey Gardens Mall shortly before 1:30 a.m.
Police setup a crime scene in the 100 block of Bond Street where cops found about a dozen shell casings at that location.
Cops also established a crime scene in the 400 block of Irvington Avenue (Oakwood Plaza) where units found over a half dozen shell casings.
It is believed that the suspect was shot at the Bond Street location but authorities would not confirm.
The condition of the victim and motive for the shooting has not been released.
