Authorities in Elizabeth are investigating a late-night shooting that left one person hospitalized, officials said.
According to preliminary information, the incident came to light around 11:35 p.m. when staff at Trinitas Regional Medical Center notified police that a person had entered the emergency room suffering from a gunshot wound.
Officers responded to the hospital to interview the victim, who is expected to survive.
Investigators believe the shooting may have occurred somewhere on Salem Avenue, though the exact location has not yet been confirmed.
No arrests have been made, and the motive behind the shooting remains under investigation.
