Elizabeth Men in Stolen Vehicle Accused of Auto Body Repair Scam in Linden

Linden Elizabeth

Two Elizabeth men were taken into custody Monday afternoon after police say were found soliciting auto body repairs at the Sam’s Club parking lot.

Police responded to the parking lot of Sam’s Club, located at 1900 E. Linden Avenue, for a report of two suspicious men approaching citizens soliciting auto body repairs at approximately 3:10 p.m.

Responding officers located Finnelli John Jace, 22, and Trooper Rocky Mitchell, 21, both of Elizabeth, who told them they were doing auto body repairs for interested customers.

The men said they arrived in a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, which police determined had been reported stolen out of New York.

Both were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and soliciting without a permit.

Jace was also charged with hindering apprehension for giving officers a false name. He was found to have a contempt warrant out of Paramus court.

Both men are being held on $5,000 bail pending a court appearance next week.
