Electrical Fire Destroys Newark Police Mobile Command Unit

Newark Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose reports that Firefighters extinguished what has preliminarily been determined as a electrical fire in a police mobile command unit stationed at West End and South Orange avenues yesterday.

According to officials, firefighters responded to the fire at approximately 8:45 p.m.

Officials say no injuries were reported and the fire is not considered suspicious.

The mobile command unit was donated to Newark Police and is nearly 30 years old.

The exact cause and origin of the fire is under investigation by members of the Newark Fire Division’s Arson Unit.
