Election Worker Accused of Being Under the Influence of Narcotics at Wayne Polls

Wayne

A 30-year-old poll worker was arrested after he was found to be under the influence of narcotics while he was supposed to be monitoring the polls Tuesday.

According to authorities, Sean Colligan, of Wayne, was taken into custody by Wayne Police Officer Mark Ciavarella, who was working security at Schuyler-Colfax Middle School around 12:30 p.m.

Officials say Ciavarella arrested Colligan, 30, for allegedly being under the influence of narcotics on school grounds, police said. Police charged him with possession of heroin, being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and possession of narcotics in a motor vehicle. He was released on a summons to appear in court.

Inside Colligan’s car, officers found suspected heroin, paraphernalia used to ingest the drug.

A subsequent search of the school for drugs and paraphernalia came back with negative findings.
