Police in Newark are investigating two separate shootings that occurred this evening in the city that left about three people injured.
Several rounds of gunfire rang out in the 60's block of Montclair Ave. in the city's North Ward at around 7:45 p.m. sending several police units to the scene where two people were found shot at that location. One of the victims was struck in the leg while the other reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the arm. Both were taken to University Hospital where they were expected to survive. Police closed off several blocks in the area for a crime scene.
A short time later in the 600 block of South 20th Street, an apparent armed robbery had gunfire erupting at that location where a bullet struck an elderly male in the shoulder. The man was rushed to University Hospital in a private vehicle reportedly by a family member.
The extent of the man's injuries have not been disclosed at this time. It is not immediately know if the elderly victim was the target of the robbery.
Both incidents are being investigated by Newark Police.
No arrest has been reported.
