East Orange Shooting Injures Man, Woman
An early morning shooting that happened on the Newark/East Ornage border sent two people to the hospital according reports.
Several reports of shots fired that rang out near the Tremont Lounge located in the 100 block of Tremont Avenue (just at the border of East Orange and Newark) scrambled officers from both municipalities to the scene shortly before 2:30 a.m.
Police units arriving to the scene located multiple shell casings that littered both sides of the border and a male victim found shot in the leg.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital in Newark where his condition was not reported as life threatening.
A female victim (who suffered a facial injury ) was taken to Mountainside Hospital in Montclair where she was expected to survive.
It is not immediately clear if the woman was struck by gunfire or was injured while attempting to escape gunfire which would probably explain her transport to the Montclair Hospital and not University Hospital. Authorities would not confirm.
Newark authorities found several shell casings on their side of the border while East Orange Police were leading the investigation into a motive for the shooting.
