Police in East Orange are looking into the motive for a shooting that happened in the city Wednesday evening.
According to preliminary reports, residents contacted police when they heard gunfire rang out in the vicinity of Amherst and Central Avenue shortly before 7:35 p.m.
Units arrived at the scene and found several shell casings, but police reported no serious injuries.
Residents say the neighborhood around the shooting scene has unaddressed drug trafficking issues.
The suspects fled the scene and no arrests have been reported.
