Police in East Orange are investigating a shooting that sent one person to the hospital late last night.
Several rounds of gunfire erupted on Halsted Street shortly before 11 p.m. sending responding police units to the scene where they found one person struck by gunfire.
The victim was transported to University Hospital in Newark suffering serious injuries.
Residents around the Halsted Street shooting scene said that they heard about six rounds of gunfire before first responders arrived to the scene.
The identity of the victim has not been released at this time.
