East Orange Resident Charged with Burglarizing Apartment in Maplewood

Maplewood Police took a man into custody and charged him with burglarizing an apartment in the township last week.

Authorities said at approximately 9:00 PM, Maplewood Police Officers responded to an apartment on Springfield Avenue for a burglary call.

Police said when officers arrived, they learned that a cream-colored baby bag containing personal items and a pair of men’s red, white, and blue sandals were taken from the residence.

 A short time later, Maplewood Police said officers stopped a male wearing matching sandals as reported missing from the scene. 

Police identified the suspect as Mr. Richard Santoro, 65, of East Orange. 

 Police arrested Santoro and then released him with a court date.
