East Orange Men Identified as Union Carjackers

Two East Orange men accused of carjacking a vehicle Sunday morning have been identified.

According to police, officers were called to the Dunkin Donuts - located at 1451 Stuyvesant Avenue - sometime around 2:30 a.m. for a report of a carjacking.

Upon arrival, police met with the 23-year old Union resident who told police that as he was walking to his car when two males ran up to him with one of the males holdinf a gun to his face while the second male ordered him to the ground. 

The two alleged carjackers fled north on Stuyvesant Avenue with the victim’s 2003 Toyota Camry, cell phone and bank card.

The vehicle was located a short time later in Newark, after it crashed into a marked Union Police vehicle.

The suspects identified as Shakeem Bryant, 21 and Joseph Kenjerry (driver), 23, have been charged with armed robbery, carjacking, weapons offenses and resisting arrest.

Both suspects remain in custody.
