An early morning shooting that sent a man to the hospital in Newark is under investigation.
Police were called to the vicinity of 14th Avenue and Hayes Street to investigate a ShotsSpotter activation at around 12:30 a.m.
According to reports, police arrived to find a male victim suffering a gunshot wound to the shoulder at that location.
EMS transported the victim to University Hospital where doctors treated him for the injury.
The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
