Early Morning Newark South Ward Shooting Under Investigation

Newark Police officials are looking into the motive for a shooting that injured a male on a street in Newark's South Ward.

According to police, gunfire erupted in the 100 block of Hawthorne Avenue at approximately 1:05 a.m., sending police to the scene to investigate.

Upon arrival, officers found an unidentified male suffering a graze injury at that location.

Officers canvassing the scene for other possible victims found several shell casings, but there were no other injuries reported.

The suspects fled the scene and remain at-large.
