EMS transported a male gunshot victim to University Hospital after a gunman fired several on a Newark street causing injuries.
The North Ward shooting happened in the vicinity of 52 Clifton Avenue where police received reports of shots fired with possible injuries at approximately 2:25 a.m.
Units arrived at the scene and found the victim suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg and a graze wound to his torso according to preliminary reports.
A tall, thin light-skinned black male suspect who wore a black shirt was observed running from the scene immediately after the shots fired incident according to reports.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
