Police are investigating an early morning shooting that sent a man to the hospital in Jersey City.
The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center after police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the 100 block of Merritt Street shortly after 5 a.m.
Emergency responders found the victim heavily bleeding, suffering a gunshot wound to the leg at that location.
Police are checking area hospitals for other victims.
There were no arrests reported.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
