Early Morning Gunfire Strikes One in Newark's South Ward

One person suffered non-fatal injuries after gunfire rang out in a section of Newark's South Ward early Saturday morning. 

 

According to officials, police found the unidentified person suffering a gunshot wound in 244 Chadwick Avenue's vicinity just before 1:45 a.m. 

Police believe that suspects occupying a white 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLS pulled up in the area and opened fire in the victim's direction. 

According to police, the vehicle has a reported NJ license plate number "M21-MNL" and is stolen. 

The victim was transported to Univesity Hospital for treatment and is expected to recover. 

Police have not released a motive for the attack at the time.
