Police are investigating a shots-fired incident that occurred early Sunday morning in Newark’s West Ward.
According to authorities, a ShotSpotter alert notified officers of gunfire in the teens block of Brookdale Avenue in the Vailsburg section around 4:45 a.m.
When officers arrived, they located multiple shell casings at the scene.
A search of the surrounding area did not immediately turn up any victims, and no injuries have been reported.
The suspect fled the area before police arrived. As of Sunday morning, no arrests have been announced.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
