Police in Newark are on the search for a suspect wanted for an early-morning shooting that erupted in a South Ward neighborhood Wednesday.
It happened around 2 a.m. near 196 Seymour Avenue.
Several police officers arrived at the scene after being alerted by a ShotSpotter device that detected multiple rounds of gunfire in the community.
Officers canvassed the neighborhood for potential victims, but no injuries were reported.
Newark Police Shooting Response Team arrived at the scene and assisted in the investigation, which resulted in no immediate arrests.
The suspect fled the scene and is at large.
