An early morning shooting that occurred in a neighborhood in Paterson had police on the scene investigating.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 300 block of 12th Avenue at around 4:45 a.m. where several units canvassing the scene found more than a dozen shell casings at that location.
Police reached out to hospitals in the area for possible walk-in victims, but there were no injuries immediately reported.
The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
