Early Morning Gunfire at Elizabeth Housing Project Leaves Woman Injured

An early morning incident on Friday saw gunfire erupt at the Mravlag Manor Housing projects on Maple Avenue, resulting in a woman sustaining non-fatal injuries.

The incident was reported at approximately 2:47 a.m. when authorities received reports of shots being fired in the area.

Responding officers arrived at the scene to find evidence of the shooting, including nearly two dozen shell casings scattered about.

A woman was discovered near the BP Gas Station on Maple Avenue with a gunshot wound to her leg.

She was promptly provided with medical attention and is currently in stable condition.

The shooter, however, managed to evade capture and remains at large. Elizabeth law enforcement is actively investigating the incident and working to identify and apprehend the suspect responsible for the shooting.

The motive behind the attack is still under investigation and authorities are urging anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward.

Public assistance is vital in bringing the responsible party to justice and ensuring the community's safety.
