Newark authorities are investigating a pre-dawn shooting incident that left a vehicle riddled with bullets in the city’s North Ward early Thursday morning.
According to preliminary reports, the incident unfolded around 12:55 a.m. in the vicinity of 289 North 6th Street.
Concerned residents alerted police after hearing several rounds of gunfire erupt in the neighborhood.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a vehicle that bullets had struck. Fortunately, no one was inside the car at the time of the shooting, and no injuries were reported.
Police conducted a thorough canvas of the surrounding area to check for victims or additional damage, but none were found.
Authorities believe the suspect fled the scene in a gray or silver vehicle, though no arrests have been made.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the case is under active investigation.
