Early Morning Fire Damages Vacant East Orange House; Firefighter Injured

Mutual assistance from several municipalities raced to the scene of a fire that broke out inside a house in East Orange.

The early morning fire happened in the 400 block of Park Avenue sending crews to the scene at around 4:30 a.m. where, upon their arrival, they found fire shooting from the upper floors of the vacant residence.

Firefighters were able to make entry into the house where a search resulted in no trapped or injured occupants.

A firefighter suffered injuries after reportedly falling through the floor while battling the fire.

As of 5:02 a.m., crews have not gained the cause of the fire that is now under investigation.
