Police in Newark are investigating an early evening shooting that had a person check into University Hospital according to authorities.
Police Director Anthony Ambrose confirmed the shooting but stated that the victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.
The incident happened at around 6:30 p.m.in the 200 block of Irvine Turner Boulevard when a vehicle that crashed into gate in Newark was later discovered by police to have bullet holes in it.
A female child suffered was transported to University Hospital suffering non-life threatening injuries after being struck by the out of control vehicle according to reports.
Director Ambrose said the investigation is in it's early stages and there is no motives or arrest at this time.
It is not immediately clear where the shooting occurred.
