Police in Harrison charged the driver of a car for leaving the scene of an incident where a pedestrian was struck by their vehicle on Thursday night.

Harrison police said at around 7:00 p.m., a mother and child were crossing Harrison Avenue and 5th Street.

While in the crosswalk, Harrison Police said a late model pick-up truck turned onto Harrison Avenue from North 5th Street, grazed the child, and ran over his foot.

Police say after a brief exchange of words, the driver left the scene and was stopped by the Harrison Police a few blocks away from the accident.

After a brief investigation, police charged the driver with leaving the scene of an accident, failing to report an accident and driving with an expired registration.

The child did not suffer serious injuries and the mother refused a medical evaluation at the scene.
