Dozens Arrested During Week Long Drug Raids in Orange

Orange

City and county law enforcement authorities rounded up more than two dozen suspects who were engaged in drug activity and weapons possession in the city according to a county law enforcement official.

Residents in the areas of Taylor, Chapman, Parrow, Hickory, Pierson, Central, Oakwood Place, and Center Streets reported seeing heavy police activity during the early morning hours, several days last week, and as early as yesterday where heavily armed cops were seen entering residences and operating near known street hangouts for drug activity.

According to the police source who is familiar with the investigation, police took as many as a dozen suspects in custody within a 24-hour time span that began on Thursday during a operation in "problematic sections" of the city.

The law enforcement source would not release information on specific locations cops focused their operation on but residents that we contacted on Taylor Street confirmed that several men were taken away as early as 9 a.m. Friday morning.

"There are a lot of young guys that hang around here and sell drugs all day but I can say that when I got home from work after the police activity, the entire block was clear. I saw them take two guys, that I'm familiar with seeing daily, in custody, before I went to work", the Taylor Street resident said.

A request for information to Orange authorities have not been answered.

In a two-week time frame in the city has seen three people injured by way of gunfire and at least 7 armed robberies with three of the incidents confirmed as carjackings of women.
