Double Shooting Leaves Teenaged Boys Wounded in Newark's Central Ward

A violent overnight shooting that was reported in Newark's Central Ward has police on an active search for suspects this morning.

According to preliminary reports, multiple rounds of gunfire that erupted in the vicinity of Howard Street and Eagles Parkway sent police to the scene at approximately 12:40 a.m. to investigate.

Units arriving at the scene immediately taped the area off after they found two male victims suffering gunshot wounds at that location.

The two victims - reportedly around the ages of 14-years-old and 16-years-old were- were rushed to University Hospital where doctors treated their injuries. The boys are expected to make a full recovery according to reports.

Back at the crime scene, police searched the area for evidence and possible suspects after they noticed that a gunman sprayed the community with bullets that even struck a home reports said.

Police recovered multiple shell casings, but there were no other injuries reported.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
