Double Shooting on Fabyan Place in Newark Under Investigation

Police in Newark are investigating the motive for a double shooting in Newark's South Ward Thursday. 

Late-night gunfire erupted in the Fabyan Place and Clinton Avenue area around 8:52 p.m., prompting police to the scene to investigate. 

Upon arrival, police found a large crowd of individuals fighting and then notified a citywide call for police assistance that included the Essex County Sheriff's Office. 

During the investigation, police located a male victim suffering bullet wounds. 

According to the investigation, witnesses say an armed masked black male approached the victim and began firing multiple times. 

According to police, while Newark Major Crimes Detectives canvassed the areas, officials at University Hospital notified University Hospital that a gunshot victim entered the emergency room seeking treatment for gunshot wounds. 

Police believe the walk-in victim was injured at the Fabyan Avenue shooting scene.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. 

No arrests have been made.
