A female gunshot victim was rushed the short distance to University Hospital for treatment after police found her in a section of Newark’s West Ward this afternoon.
Gun fire erupted in the vicinity 444 Central Avenue around 3:04 p.m., prompting police to the scene to investigate.
Upon arrival, officers located the victim suffering a bullet wound in her back at that location.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation
No suspect has been identified.
