Investigators for The Essex County Sheriff Office are assisting West Caldwell Police in an investigation into a suspicious package that was left in the vicinity of a restaurant on Bloomfield Avenue this evening.
According to preliminary reports, at approximately 6:40 p.m., police were called to 675 Bloomfield Avenue to investigate reports of a suspicious package at the restaurant.
Police managed to secure customers and staff at the restaurant before beginning to look into what the package contains and who left it at the establishment.
Authorities closed a portion of Bloomfield Avenue while police began their investigation.
There are no injuries reported and West Caldwell Police are the lead agency at this time.
