There is an active investigation underway inside a parking lot in Union as detectives try to gather information related to a pedestrian strike that has one person dead at this time.
According to preliminary reports, the incident happened at approximately 10:40 a.m. in the where police rushed to the Parking lot of the LA Fitness located at 1235 West Chestnut Street after receiving reports of a person down at that location.
Units arrived to find the unidentified, unconscious and unresponsive person laying on the ground.
The victim was pronounced dead according to our on the scene reporters. Our field team members see the driver of the vehicle visibly distraught and also on the ground due to apparent emotional stress of the situation.
Police have the entrance to the parking lot taped at this time.
