DEVELOPING: Two Males Found Shot on Newark-East Orange Border

Police in both Newark and East Orange are canvassing their sides of the border for evidence after two gunshot victims were found this evening.

According to police, a ShotSpotter device activated after several rounds of gunfire was detected in the 50’s block of North 14th Street around 7:05 p.m.

When police arrived at the scene, they found a male victim who reported that he suffered his injuries while suspects in two vehicles exchanged gunfire in the area.

The victim said the shooting happened in East Orange, but police found shell casings in the 400 block of 7th Avenue in Newark.

According to police, the victim suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound in his leg.

Police say they had a second victim suffering a bullet wound in their foot on 6th Avenue.

Police say the vehicles sped away and were last seen on Eaton Place in East Orange.

The incident is under investigation.
